
Art Youth Expo 14:
Gallery Opening and Open Mic: Friday, May 30th, 5-8 PM, 2025

Join us for this year’s Art Youth Expo, celebrating young artists ages 13-30 at the Hazleton Art League. AYE will feature many events and activities, including an Art Contest with cash prizes, an open mic event, live music, food, a tattoo flash event, an artists’ bazaar, and more!

Categories and Prizes
Teen Categories (ages 13-18)
Photography – may be digitally enhanced.
Art in Color – ANY colored medium, including collage, on any surface (paper, canvas, board)
Art in Black & White – ink, pencil, charcoal, etc, on paper or any surface
Digital Art – art produced digitally
3D & Fiber Art – sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, enamels, batik, macrame, clothing, basketry, etc.
There are 3 awards for each category: First Place $100: Second Place: $50 Third Place: $25
Adult Categories (ages 19-30)
Photography: technical skill and imaginative use of medium; may be digitally enhanced
Realistically Rendered: accurate depiction of recognizable subject matter. Photographs do not qualify for this category.
Non-Realistic: visually compelling non-representational art (abstract, impressionist, etc.) in any medium
Most Thought Provoking: a work of art, any medium, created to convey a strong message or stance. The artist must submit, neatly written on an unlined index card, answers to these two questions: (1) What is the theme of your work? and (2) How does your imagery convey this theme? The index card will be displayed alongside your work.
There are 3 awards in each category: First Place: $250 Second Place: $100 Third Place: $50
People’s Choice Awards
All artwork, teen and adult, is eligible to win a people’s choice award, selected through fundraiser votes ($5 per ballot; 1 ballot per person, ranking top 5 choices) during May 30 exhibition hours and May 31 until 4pm.

AYE RULES
No entry fee.
Maximum 3 entries per person.
All mediums welcome.
Original artwork ONLY (absolutely no copies or reproductions).
Artwork must have been created within the past 3 years and not exhibited at previous Art Youth Expos.
Artwork Preparation
All work must have a sale price or be marked NFS.
2D artwork must be framed and ready to hang.
***Screw eyes with hanging wire is preferred.***
Works on paper must be protected under glass or Plexiglas and have a backboard.
Please do NOT put glass over canvas board unless it is securely framed.
Works on stretched canvas do not need a frame if there is a hanging wire on the back.
CALENDAR
Delivery: to Hayden Family Center for the Arts on Sundays, May 18 OR 25, between 1 and 5pm, or between 10am and 5pm, Tuesday, May 20 through Friday, May 23.
Opening Reception and Juried Open Mic: May 30, 5 pm
Exhibition Hours during AYE Festival: Friday, May 30, 5-8pm and Saturday, May 31, 1-8pm
Award Presentations: Saturday, May 31, 6pm
Exhibition continues during gallery hours until Sunday, June 22
Gallery Hours: Tuesday - Friday: 10am-5pm, Saturday - Sunday: 1pm-4pm
Pick-up: Sunday, June 22, 4-7pm

Sales – The Hazleton Art League retains a 25% commission on all artwork sold. Pieces purchased will not be removed from the exhibit until it closes.

AYE 14 Bake Jam!
An opportunity for culinary artists, ages 13-30 to promote and sell their creations and confections at the Hazleton Art League’s Art Youth Expo 14.
When: 3:00pm - 8:00pm, Saturday, May 31, 2025.
Where: The Hayden Family Center for the Arts, 31 W. Broad Street, Hazleton, PA.
Outdoors or Indoors, as weather permits.
WE RECOMMEND:
Bring a friend or family member to accompany you for assistance, and to ensure that someone will be at your table at all times.
Bring small bills and coins for change. The Art League cannot provide change.
Bring your own table and chairs. (A limited number of tables and chairs are available through the Art League but must be reserved in advance.)
You can you sell: Unless you are a licensed food vendor, Pennsylvania State Law limits what you may sell to the following:
Baked Goods
Candies and confections
Fruit butters
Jams and jellies
Nuts and nut butter
State Law also requires that you provide a list of ingredients that buyers can read, for each type of product you sell.
YOUR EARNINGS ARE YOURS TO KEEP!
There is no fee for participation.

Vending space is $25, which will benefit the Hazleton Art League’s community projects.
