En Plein Air Painting Adventures is a members only artist-driven group with no formal instruction offered. The group meets at various locations around Hazleton to capture favorite places in painting, in two hours or less. Bring your choice of medium and join us even if you have no experience. Students are encouraged to choose a subject that inspires them, and can work in watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, or drawing media. The class focuses on a “learn as you go” approach with development from one piece to the next. All levels welcome.

Children will be taught techniques of creating figures and faces, various objects, landscapes, still life, etc. with an introduction to basic drawing and painting skills. They will discover how to use multiple media — such as acrylics, watercolors, graphite, charcoal, pastels, and more! (Children 6-13)

The Class will go over landscapes but focus on portrait photography. You can expect to learn what goes into making images including composition, perspective, and lighting. You will also learn about different gear and equipment used both in studio and on location. We will be photographing both landscapes and portraits in studio and on location so a camera is recommended! (Adults and teens 15+)

An introductory class on portraiture painting designed for artists who are new to portrait painting but have some familiarity with oil painting. The course covers selecting a reference, creating an underpainting, mixing skin tones, and painting an impressionistic loose portrait. Course includes paint, palette, medium, brushes, canvas, and easels. Attendees may bring their own preferred supplies. (Adults 18+)
Sound and Crystal Healing

Sound Therapy uses sound, music, and specialized instruments that are played in therapeutic ways. These sounds combined with crystal energy help with self-reflection and relaxation techniques to improve health and wellbeing. Starting with breathing techniques, crystals will be placed around the room and the instructor will play the instruments. Just listen to the prompts and enjoy the sounds. This class is a great way to relax, reduce anxiety, and reflect. Must be able to be quiet and be still, sit on a chair or lay down on a yoga mat, or sit on a pillow or a bolster (participants supply). Please pre-register online or by calling the Art League.
