Hazleton Art League is excited to offer an extensive list of art classes, including some new additions such as Photography, Art for Children, Sound & Crystal Healing, and more! Browse through our class list to discover what classes will best suit your creative needs! While considering our selection of available classes and workshops, please note, that staff and/or Board of Directors cannot be held responsible for personal injury, or damage to, or loss of property. No refunds for cancellations made less than 10 days before classes begin. A $10.00 administrative fee will be charged for all cancellations. Cancelled classes will be refunded in full. Classes cancelled due to weather may run extra weeks to make up for the days missed. We will send a confirmation email as your receipt of registration. Questions? Do you love to paint? Do you love the outdoors? Then you will really enjoy En Plein Air Painting Adventures. This is an artist-driven group with no formal instruction offered. The group meets at various locations around Hazleton to capture favorite places in paint, in two hours or less. Just bring your choice of medium. New to en plein air? No experience? You are welcome to join us. Please ask if you want some pointers to get started.

Moves and Meze | Belly Dance & Cooking

6 Weeks | Wednesdays, 6:00pm — 8:00pm.

Each week learn to make a different appetizer (hummus, muttabal, muhammara, etc.) for half of the class, while learning basic moves and creating a joint choreography for a song for weeks 1-5. Week 6 is hafla (party) and dress rehearsal for an optional dance performance in the gallery for First Friday Gallery Opening, May 3.

Children will be taught techniques of creating figures and faces, various objects, landscapes, still life, etc. with an introduction to basic drawing and painting skills. They will discover how to use multiple media such as acrylics, watercolors, graphite, charcoal, pastels and more!

Every Second Tuesday Except of the month (EXCEPT May 11) 6:00pm — 7:00pm.

Sound Therapy uses sound, music, and specialized instruments that are played in therapeutic ways. These sounds combined with crystal energy help with self-reflection and relaxation techniques to improve health and wellbeing. Starting with breathing techniques, crystals will be placed around the room and the instructor will play the instruments. Just listen to the prompts and enjoy the sounds. This class is a great way to relax, reduce anxiety, and reflect. Must be able to be quiet and be still, sit on a chair or lay down on a yoga mat, or sit on a pillow or a bolster (participants supply). Please pre-register online or by calling the Art League.

Knotty Business | Macramé

7 Weeks | Wednesdays, 6:00pm — 8:30pm.

(Adults 18+)

The class will start with learning several different types of macrame knots and estimating how much cord you will need to create your piece. Learn how to use those knots to make different patterns, which can be layered next to each other to make your own unique wall hanging. All supplies will be provided in class. If a rope color other than Natural Cream is desired, please notify instructor prior to March 15. Students signing up after March 15 will be responsible for their own materials. Feel free to bring any extras which you would like to add to your wall hanging, like special beads. Just make sure the hole is large enough to fit over 4mm cord.

Make your own seed bead influenced necklace by combining glass seed beads, semi-precious stones, and crystals. Learn how to space out your seed beads while creating a unique pattern and attaching a clasp. Design and make a pair of matching earrings to go with your necklace. Acquire basic wire wrapping techniques to create a beautiful ensemble. These new skills can be applied to future jewelry making projects of all levels.

A five-week introductory course for those interested in photography but do not know where to start. The instructor will be going over the basic ins and outs of cameras, lenses, image settings, composition, and lighting both in the classroom and out on location while photographing. Students are required to use their own DSLR. Includes lighting provided by instructor.
